Initially, for the TR4 cars, the hand-operated safety brake lever was located on the footwell floor section just to the right of the gearbox housing – and as a chrome lever with no upholstery covering it. This was a continuation from the earlier TR3A models. However, for the TR4″A” models, as well as all of the following TR5/TR250 and TR6 models – the handbrake lever was repositioned and mounted to the central driveshaft tunnel located, directly in between the seats. In addition to the change in the position – the handbrake boot cover was physically sewn into the corresponding carpet piece with the brake lever assembly becoming mostly covered by this sewn gauntlet cover. Directly underneath this carpet piece, mounted over the actual tunnel section of the car was a pre-formed panel. This panel acted as a separator between the carpet and bodywork/mechanics of the car as well as a mounting point for the carpet section with the handbrake cover sewn to it.

Designed using the original factory templates – and donors from Johns various TRs he has owned over the years – we offer this propshaft panel in automotive-grade hardboard, which we then vacuum mould to achieve the shape required for fitment. It is our dedication toward even the most seemly “insignificant” parts of the car – that has allowed us to gain and maintain our reputation as the benchmark premium supplier of interior trim and upholstery for Triumph TRs.

Why JSM?

  • Made in England, only 50 miles away from the original production line.
  • Our kits are manufactured using the same methods and templates that we have used to great success for 40+ years. Rest assured, we know they fit!
  • JSM has contributed to various notable Triumph restorations including TS01, and the much-publicised Triumph TR2 “Jabbeke MVC575 restoration project. We also worked closely with Mark Macy of Macy’s Garage (USA) on his wife’s TR4 – becoming the only Triumph TR to ever score the perfect 100-point score in the TRA Concours D’Elegance – back in 2018. Mark Macys own TR4 came in second place, at the same show – also with JSM trimmed fitted.
  • Access to help and advice when it comes time to fit these kits – we have been making and fitting these same parts for a long time – we know all the tricks, and we are more than happy to assist you or your trimmer should you get stuck. As noted above, John himself has used this part on a number of his own TRs, so we are well versed in the fitment process.

Due to the range of products we offer, and our worldwide customer base, we can only calculate an accurate shipping cost once Your Quote has been received by our Sales Team. As there is no payment required at this stage – use our online shop in full confidence, with zero commitment to purchase – and send us your Quotation request for your interior trim requirements; and we will get in touch directly with you with an updated Quote, which will include the shipment costs.

In the meantime, basic guideline shipping costs are outlined below.

(For all non-UK shipments – the final price per box depends on the size of the box – which is dictated by the items in your final selection)

UK: £10.50 – £20 per box

Europe & European Union: £20 – £120 per box

North America & Canada: £28.50 – £125 per box

Rest of World: £42.50 – £200 per box

Generally speaking, a complete car interior kit (Trim Panels, Carpets, Seat Covers, Boot/Trunk area, Soft Top Hoods etc) normally requires 2 x FULL Size Boxes, with some cars needing slightly less, and some slightly more.

Please note that these prices are exclusive of VAT (UK Customers ONLY) and any additional customs or handling charges that may be incurred during shipping. These prices are given as an approximation only.

Brexit

You can read a full guide to Brexit and JSM here.

To briefly summarise the details…

As of January 2021, the UK is no longer part of the European Union (EU). As a result, several changes have been implemented which affects how EU based customers now purchase things from the UK. Here is a brief overview…

The UK Value Added Tax (VAT @ 20%) is no longer applicable to any customers purchasing from outside the UK, assuming these goods leave the UK. To clarify, no VAT (20%) will be charged on initial purchase for any goods leaving the UK.

Instead your local country tax is charged upon importation into that country. This is based on the value of the goods as stated on the customs Invoice we supply. For most European countries – the result of this change is minimal as most local taxes range between 17% and 22% for the large majority of EU based countries. Note that some countries have lower tax rates, and others have higher, this is purely a guideline.

You will be contacted by a customs official upon arrival of the parcels to the destination country – and they will request payment of these taxes.

All shipping agents levy a small administration charge for “clearing customs” normally of a value around €5 – €10.

Our products are 100% UK Manufactured, therefore our products are Tariff/Duty free – meaning that you should not incur additional tariff charges upon importation. It should be noted that we use the HS Commodity Code (Tariff Code) 8708.99.9790 “Parts and accessories of the motor vehicles of headings 8701 to 8708 > Other Parts…” – for the majority of the kits that we supply.

For any Trade or Wholesale Customers – if you provide us with your EORI number – then this is noted at the point of import, allowing you to claim back the Tax from your local government when you issue you tax returns.
