Please note that the colour names refer to internal John Skinner Ltd names, not necessarily the names Austin Healey originally used for these colours.

Due to industry-wide inconsistencies in production and record-keeping, it is widely accepted that the interpretation of original shades varies depending on who you ask. As a result, John Skinner Ltd offers multiple “original” shade options for you to make your final choice from. Below is a list of these accepted “original” colour choices that John Skinners can offer for your Healey restoration project.

SAMPLES/COLOUR CONFIRMATIONS

As part of the ordering process, we will arrange for samples to be sent for final confirmation – so browse and shop with complete peace of mind, knowing that we will guide you through step-by-step with all the information you require.

Please note that all materials are subject to colour shade differences between production batches. There may be subtle differences in colour shading between sample cuttings and final production material.

What materials are available?

We can manufacture the Rear Deck sections in either Armacord (Ribbed), Tufted Nylon, Karvel (Ribbed), or Deluxe Woven Wool. Note that the Nylon and Wool options have a rubber backing, whereas the Armacord a felt backing and Karvel has a hessian backing. The Spare Wheel Cover and Wheelarch Cover Re-Trim kits can be supplied in either Vinyl (Ambla), Leathercloth (Vynide), or Leather. Please refer to our Materials & Colours library for more information.

What material is original for this model of car?

Austin Healey models left the factory with Armacord for the Rear Deck parts. This is a felt-backed plastic material with an embossed rib pattern. The ribs originally went from front to back down the length of the car. This is unlike many of the other Healeys parts where the ribs ran from left to right. The Spare Wheel Cover and Wheelarch Covers were originally manufactured in Leathercloth (Vynide). This material is often referred to as “Rexine” in the original parts books and restoration guides. We can offer these parts in the original Leathercloth material; please be aware that there is a limited colour range available in this material. Unless specifically instructed we would standardly manufacture this part in Vinyl rather than Leathercloth. Note that there are limited shades available for ribbed Armacord. There is a much wider selection of colours available in Deluxe Woven Wool and Nylon. Please refer to our Materials & Colours library for more information.

What was the original colour used for this part, when it left the original factory production line?

The Rear Deck and Spare Wheel Cover Kits for the 100-4 models were supplied in matching colours to the main trim colour, where available. Note that Armacord has a fairly limited colour range available, when compared to the primary materials; and therefore some kits will complement but not 100% match the interior colours. Please refer to our Materials & Colours library for more information.

Is this kit edged?

Yes – we edge these Rear Deck kits using Leathercloth (Vynide) binding, where available. Not all edges are bound; some are raw edges – but these are normally hidden during the fitting process under adjacent edged pieces or panels. Please refer to our Materials & Colours library for more information. It should be noted that originally the Healeys left with “hand-rolled” binding edges; which we do not offer. Machine-rolled edges (which we provide) offers a much neater and professional looking finish; whereas hand-rolled edges can look baggy with inconsistent stitches left exposed.

Does the kit include the Leather Battery Box Straps?

No, these are sold separately.

Does this kit include the Spare Wheel Cover?

Yes. The Spare Wheel Cover is pre-sewn and attached to one of the Armacord/Carpet pieces, as per original specification.

Is the cover for the battery box lid included?

Yes. This battery box lid cover as 2″ material strips on all edges which are used to trim and anchor to the actual bodywork lid. We also provide some material for the inside of this battery box area.

Do the Rear Floor mats include pre-cut slots for the Seat Runners?

Yes. We pre-cut the Seat Runner slots into the Armacord/Carpets, and edge these accordingly. It is known that some of the early versions of the 100-4 left the production line without these slots pre-cut. If you wish for this version, then please inform us of this choice when confirming your order.

What colour is the piping on this kit?

The piping would match the main material of this kit. Unlike the Seats, which may have featured contrasting piping – the piping featured on the Spare Wheel Cover and Wheelarch Covers would be the same as the main material colour.

Due to the range of products we offer, and our worldwide customer base, we can only calculate an accurate shipping cost once Your Quote has been received by our Sales Team. As there is no payment required at this stage – use our online shop in full confidence, with zero commitment to purchase – and send us your Quotation request for your interior trim requirements; and we will get in touch directly with you with an updated Quote, which will include the shipment costs.

In the meantime, basic guideline shipping costs are outlined below.

(For all non-UK shipments – the final price per box depends on the size of the box – which is dictated by the items in your final selection)

UK: £10.50 – £20 per box

Europe & European Union: £20 – £120 per box

North America & Canada: £28.50 – £125 per box

Rest of World: £42.50 – £200 per box

Generally speaking, a complete car interior kit (Trim Panels, Carpets, Seat Covers, Boot/Trunk area, Soft Top Hoods etc) normally requires 2 x FULL Size Boxes, with some cars needing slightly less, and some slightly more.

Please note that these prices are exclusive of VAT (UK Customers ONLY) and any additional customs or handling charges that may be incurred during shipping. These prices are given as an approximation only.

For further information about shipping, and to learn more about how our shipping costs are calculated, please read our Shipping and Delivery guide.

Brexit

You can read a full guide to Brexit and JSM here.

To briefly summarise the details…

As of January 2021, the UK is no longer part of the European Union (EU). As a result, several changes have been implemented which affects how EU based customers now purchase things from the UK. Here is a brief overview…

The UK Value Added Tax (VAT @ 20%) is no longer applicable to any customers purchasing from outside the UK, assuming these goods leave the UK. To clarify, no VAT (20%) will be charged on initial purchase for any goods leaving the UK.

Instead your local country tax is charged upon importation into that country. This is based on the value of the goods as stated on the customs Invoice we supply. For most European countries – the result of this change is minimal as most local taxes range between 17% and 22% for the large majority of EU based countries. Note that some countries have lower tax rates, and others have higher, this is purely a guideline.

You will be contacted by a customs official upon arrival of the parcels to the destination country – and they will request payment of these taxes.

All shipping agents levy a small administration charge for “clearing customs” normally of a value around €5 – €10.

Our products are 100% UK Manufactured, therefore our products are Tariff/Duty free – meaning that you should not incur additional tariff charges upon importation. It should be noted that we use the HS Commodity Code (Tariff Code) 8708.99.9790 “Parts and accessories of the motor vehicles of headings 8701 to 8708 > Other Parts…” – for the majority of the kits that we supply.

For any Trade or Wholesale Customers – if you provide us with your EORI number – then this is noted at the point of import, allowing you to claim back the Tax from your local government when you issue you tax returns.
