B Post Pillar Cover Re-Trim Kit (Pair)

After the overhaul of the Triumph TRs in the early 1960s with a somewhat radical redesign by Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti, the majority of the interior trim items were also completely updated. The overall body shape of the cars remained fairly consistent from the TR4s of the early 1960s, all the way through to the TR6s of the 1970s – with changes, albeit quite subtle, to the interior upholstery and trim during this era. One area that remained consistent throughout was the B Post leading edge. A few minor changes to mechanisms support holes and brackets did not affect the B Post Strip – which was an area of exposed bodywork on the leading edge of the Quarter Panel area, located immediately being the door panel latch area.

This material cover was supplied in Vynide (Leathercloth) when leaving the original factory production line. Commonly these days, this material is superseded with Vinyl (Ambla), although Leathercloth (Vynide) is still available if requested (colour dependent). Very few cars, if any, would have left with Leather covers – and if they did, this would have been a special order item. Note when “Leather” is mentioned on the heritage certificates, this is often referring to the only the Seats, with other elements of the car remaining in Leathercloth (Vynide) / Vinyl (Ambla). Skiving, or the thinning of leather is a process to reduce the thickness by slicing away a layer of the “flesh” underside. This finish is especially useful for areas where a certain thickness, or rather thinness, of material, is essential to attain the best finish. It is this detailed knowledge of these parts through decades of supplying kits, and our investment in machinery such as our leather skiving machine that has allowed us to improve the options available to our customers without compromising on suitability to the purpose for the cars.
