Originally the inner side wheel arch bodywork panels were left completely exposed on the Triumph TR models. Here at John Skinner Ltd, we have designed covers suitable for re-covering these areas – to add a little something extra to the often-overlooked Boot Trunk Area.

The Trunk area, or “Boot” as us Brits call it, remained unchanged throughout the production period ranging from 1953 to 1962, which saw over 80,000 Triumph TR2, TR3, and TR3A/B models leaving the production line in Coventry. Originally only fitted with a Liner Panel in front of the fuel/petrol tank, and a Mat for the floor of the boot trunk area – the left and right side panels were just left exposed showing the painted bodywork. The large majority of TR2 to TR3A/B models left with Black Boot / Trunk areas, with only the very first TR2s offering a “coloured” alternative in this area.

John Skinner templated these Boot Trunk Side Covers specifically for the TR2-3B range of cars – to offer his clients alternative options in this area of the car that is often overlooked. Designed to include a cover for the wheelarch curved section, as well as the flat bodywork section just behind it – this kit consists of two pairs of covers and can be made in either Wool or Nylon carpet; in Black as original, or a colour of your choosing.

You should consider the floor Mat and Fuel Liner Panel in conjunction with this Side Panel kit to achieve the best results when restoring your Boot Trunk area of your Triumph TR.

  • Available in automotive-grade Wool or Nylon carpet; with a rubber latex backing.
  • Traditional “e” cross-section binding edge finish – where the material edge trim material tucks round on itself meaning no raw material backing is exposed.
  • The edging/binding/beading is made using Leathercloth (Vynide), which was original for this era of manufacture; see our FAQ section below for more information.
  • This is an after-market part, designed to improve the look and feel of the Boot areas of the Triumph TRs.
