TR International Weekend, 2021

John Skinner interior trim featured in 6 of the 12 Concours d’Elegance winning categories at the TR International Weekend, 2021.

Set against the backdrop of the Malvern hills, the TR International show was the first of its kind when it welcomed the MG Car Club along to its annual event.

Alongside celebrating 60 years of the TR4, the Concours and Pride of Ownership competition showcased the best in TR and MGA restoration. John Skinner was the chosen interior trim supplier for most of the Concours d’Elegance winners on the day. Here we break down the winning entries and provide a run-down of all the interior trim items we manufactured that graced the cream of the crop!

Concours d'Elegance - Non-standard TR4/4A

The winner and runner-up in the Non-standard TR4/4A category both featured interior trim by John Skinner.

For the winning car, we made and supplied the following as per the below material & colour specification:

  • Interior Trim Panels: Full Leather: Stone Grained Leather, Piping: Dark Blue Leathercloth.

  • Dash, Crashpad & Console Area: Full Leather: Black Smooth Leather, Top Stitching: Beige.

  • Front Seats : Full Leather: Stone Grained Leather, Piping: Dark Blue Leathercloth. (Note: MX5 Seats – matching raw materials supplied).

  • Carpets: Wool: Fawn, Binding: Stone Leathercloth.

  • Boot / Trunk Area: Boot Mat + Fully Trimmed Boot Liner Panel + Side Panels: Wool: Fawn, Binding: Stone Leathercloth.

For the runner-up car (also awarded Highest-placed runner up), we made and supplied the following as per the below material & colour specification:

  • Interior Trim Panels: Vinyl: Midnight Blue, Piping: White Leathercloth.

  • Front & Rear Seats: LeatherFaced: Midnight Blue Grained Leather & Midnight Blue Vinyl, Piping: White Leathercloth (Outer) & Midnight Blue Leathercloth (Inner).

  • Carpets: Not JSM Kit.

Concours d'Elegance - Standard TR2/TR3A

We provided the interior trim for the winner in the Standard TR2/TR3A category, and the same car went on to scoop Best Paint & Car of the Show!

For the winning car, we made and supplied the following as per the below material & colour specification:

  • Interior Trim Panels: Vinyl + 7pc Leather: Black Connolly Vaumol™ Leather, Vinyl: Black, Piping: White Leathercloth.

  • Front & Rear Seats: LeatherFaced: Black Connolly Vaumol™ Leather & Black Vinyl, Piping: White Leathercloth (Inside & Outside as per OEM Spec for TR3 models).

  • Carpets: Wool: Black, Binding: Black Leathercloth

  • Soft Top Convertible Hood: PVC Everflex: Black.

Note: This kit was supplied over 2 decades ago during John Skinner Senior’s tenure – showing a prime example of the longevity of our kits.

Concours d'Elegance - Standard TR4/TR4A

John Skinner manufactured a complete interior trim kit for the winner of the Standard TR4/TR4A category

For the winning car, we made and supplied the following as per the below material & colour specification:

  • Interior Trim Panels: Vinyl: Cherry Red, Piping: White Leathercloth.

  • Front & Rear Seats: Vinyl: Cherry Red, Piping: White Leathercloth.

  • Carpets: Not JSM Kit.

  • Headlining & Sunvisors: PVC: White PVC Headliner

  • Boot / Trunk Area: Black Grain Faced Millboard Fuel Tank Board

  • Radiator Cooling Duct: Black Grain Faced Millboard. See note below.

Note: Even down to what some may consider a very basic millboard panel – the JSM kits reign supreme. Our customer initially bought this panel from a world renowned TR Wholesaler, only to find the part was badly made, and even worse fitting. Once he contacted to us – on the off chance that we made these parts too (we do!) – he was delighted to see that our kit was well made and fitted perfectly.

 

Concours d'Elegance - Standard TR6

John Skinner manufactured a complete interior trim kit for the winner of the Standard TR6 category

For the winning car, we made and supplied the following as per the below material & colour specification:

  • Interior Trim Panels (CP Pre 50k, 1969 Style): Vinyl: Shadow Blue, Piping: Shadow Blue Leathercloth.

  • Front Seats (CP Pre 50k, 1969 Style): Vinyl: Shadow Blue with correct HF/RF Embossed Diamond Pattern on Pleats, Piping: Shadow Blue Leathercloth.

  • Carpets: Wool: Shadow Blue, Binding: Shadow Blue Leathercloth.

  • Boot / Trunk Area (P.I. Style): Wool: Shadow Blue, Binding: Shadow Blue Leathercloth.
