There is a good reason why glove cubby boxes are still a common feature for modern-day cars – the storage is ideal and very convenient. Make sure your dashboard cubby box does not let down the look and feel of your Triumph TR.
During the nine-year period between 1953 and 1962, all of the 80,000+ Triumph TR2, TR3 and TR3A/B cars that left the production line were fitted with a millboard cubby box situated on the passenger side of the Dash Facia panel. This millboard “glove” box was consistent in its design between all the TR2 to TR3B cars. Before the age of sat-nav GPS devices and smart-phones – pockets like these were ideal for storing an ordnance survey map for planning your trip, or perhaps getting your “un-lost”! These days, they can be used to store your mobile cell phone or perhaps some leather driving gloves and goggles.
This dashboard cubby box was oval in shape and differed subtly between the UK-based Right Hand Drive (RHD) models, and the far more frequently seen LHD (Left Hand Drive) cars used on the North American and continental European roads. They were flocked with a thin layer of small microfibre particles, in a matching or complementary shade to the main trim colour.
Our gloveboxes are templated using the original factory designs – and have been tried and tested for decades on thousands of cars around the world. We use the correct thickness millboard material, and supply these fully riveted to shape, ready to be fitted to the car. We can offer the flocked finish in a limited number of shades, or we offer these parts trimmed in vinyl to exactly match your main trim colour. We can also offer the JS Bespoke range which offers these cubby boxes supplied in a premium moquette material – which is a wool-based product commonly used in Jaguars of this same era. See our FAQs section for more details. Our knowledge of these parts and decades of experience in manufacturing these parts has made John Skinner Ltd the industry benchmark in quality and finish for your Triumph TR2, TR3, TR3A and TR3B interior trim panels.
