Although its main purpose is to help reduce the sound and heat coming from the engine and gearbox – this felt kit is also crucial in keeping the correct depth/thickness under the carpets resulting in the best fitment of the carpets.

On the initial release of the radically overhauled, Giovanni Michelotti designed, Triumph TR4 – the interior trim and upholstery saw many changes. With the new bodywork tub re-design – the carpets were updated to suit the new styling. The material used underneath the actual carpets for a reduction in sound and heat from the engine and gearbox remained the same – with basic natural jute felt being used.  The insulation kit includes pieces for the main front and rear footwell floor pans, the front gearbox clutching housing, the main gearbox and transmission/propshaft/driveshaft covers, as well as the rear heelboard/bulkhead shelf behind the seats.

Note that not all carpet pieces will include corresponding felt pieces in line with the suitability for that area, and other shapes may have been combined for this felt kit to ease the fitment process. You should consider using this under carpet felt kit in conjunction with a John Skinner Ltd carpet set to achieve the best results for your restoration.
