Initially, for the TR4 cars, the hand-operated safety brake lever was located on the footwell floor section just to the right of the gearbox housing – and as a chrome lever with no upholstery covering it. This was a continuation from the earlier TR3A models. However, for the TR4″A” models, as well as all of the following TR5/TR250 and TR6 models – the handbrake lever was repositioned and mounted to the central tunnel located directly in between the seats. In addition to the change in the position – the handbrake boot cover was physically sewn into the corresponding carpet piece with the brake lever assembly becoming mostly covered by this sewn gauntlet cover.

These handbrake covers were colour matched to the main upholstery and trim colour i.e. Trim Panels / Seats – and would complement, if not match, the carpet set colour. Originally these would have been supplied in Vinyl (Ambla).

John Skinner Ltd offers this part as standard in their Carpet Sets for the TR4A, TR5, TR250 and TR6 models – so if you are ordering one of our carpet sets, you do not require to order this part separately.

Designed using the original factory templates – and donors from Johns various TRs he has owned over the years – we offer this pre-sewn handbrake cover in Vinyl (Ambla) or Leather. Despite the relative size of this part – we still use our premium range of raw materials to make these covers – never taking any shortcuts in the consistency of our products. It is this attitude toward even the most seemly “insignificant” parts of the car – that has allowed us to gain and maintain our reputation as the benchmark premium supplier of interior trim and upholstery for Triumph TRs.

Due to industry-wide inconsistencies in production and record-keeping, it is widely accepted that the interpretation of original shades varies depending on who you ask. As a result, John Skinner Ltd offers multiple “original” shade options for you to make your final choice from. Below is a list of these accepted “original” colour choices that John Skinners can offer for your Triumph restoration project.

Due to the range of products we offer, and our worldwide customer base, we can only calculate an accurate shipping cost once Your Quote has been received by our Sales Team. As there is no payment required at this stage – use our online shop in full confidence, with zero commitment to purchase – and send us your Quotation request for your interior trim requirements; and we will get in touch directly with you with an updated Quote, which will include the shipment costs.

In the meantime, basic guideline shipping costs are outlined below.

(For all non-UK shipments – the final price per box depends on the size of the box – which is dictated by the items in your final selection)

UK: £10.50 – £15 per box

Europe & European Union: £20 – £75 per box

North America & Canada: £28.50 – £95 per box

Rest of World: £42.50 – £160 per box

Generally speaking, a complete car interior kit (Trim Panels, Carpets, Seat Covers, Boot/Trunk area, Soft Top Hoods etc) normally requires 2 x FULL Size Boxes, with some cars needing slightly less, and some slightly more.

Please note that these prices are exclusive of VAT (UK Customers ONLY) and any additional customs or handling charges that may be incurred during shipping. These prices are given as an approximation only.

For further information about shipping, and to learn more about how our shipping costs are calculated, please read our Shipping and Delivery guide.

Brexit

As of January 2021, the UK is no longer part of the European Union (EU). As a result, several changes have been implemented which affects how EU based customers now purchase things from the UK. Here is a brief overview…

The UK Value Added Tax (VAT @ 20%) is no longer applicable to any customers purchasing from outside the UK, assuming these goods leave the UK. To clarify, no VAT (20%) will be charged on initial purchase for any goods leaving the UK.

Instead your local country tax is charged upon importation into that country. This is based on the value of the goods as stated on the customs Invoice we supply. For most European countries – the result of this change is minimal as most local taxes range between 17% and 22% for the large majority of EU based countries. Note that some countries have lower tax rates, and others have higher, this is purely a guideline.

You will be contacted by a customs official upon arrival of the parcels to the destination country – and they will request payment of these taxes.

All shipping agents levy a small administration charge for “clearing customs” normally of a value around €5 – €10.

The large majority of our products are Tariff/Duty free – meaning that you should not incur additional tariff charges upon importation. It should be noted that we use the HS Commodity Code (Tariff Code) 8708.99.9790 “Parts and accessories of the motor vehicles of headings 8701 to 8708 > Other Parts…” – for the majority of the kits that we supply.

For any Trade or Wholesale Customers – if you provide us with your EORI number – then this is noted at the point of import, allowing you to claim back the Tax from your local government when you issue you tax returns.

As seen in our customer's cars...
