Leather
Depending on the look and feel of your restoration, our leather hides are available in 3 different finishes; Grained, Smooth and Antiqued. Whilst grained and antiqued leathers are favoured for their look of familiar authenticity, our smooth leather has a pristine quality and is the leather of choice where restorations demand an impeccable finish.
You can learn more about our 3 different leather finishes in our Handbook post – Leather: Grained, Smooth and Antiqued.
For simply outstanding restorations, we offer our Trim Kits in original specification Connolly Vaumol™ leather. See below for the Connolly Vaumol™ colour range.
Grained Leather
Our grained leathers feature a subtle textured finish to the surface and remain a popular choice for restoration projects. The naturally occurring variations in shade and texture across the surface of the hide give an authentic appearance that betters with age, whilst the grained finish enhances with creasing and blemishes that naturally develop with use.
Antiqued Leather
Antiqued leather was used on original factory production lines to meet the demand for aged-looking leather, and is still used today. To achieve the look, grained hides are over-printed with black dye to give an authentic mottled effect to the surface. It remains a popular choice for restorers looking to re-create a vintage worn-in feel.
Smooth Leather
This is the natural look of leather that was widely used by Jaguar during the era of the 1940s to 1980s. This smooth finish has been manufactured to replicate the original Connolly Vaumol™ leather used on several British classic car manufacturers. This is the appearance of leather prior to any print pattern grain being embossed onto it. The smooth surface is more prone to scuffing & creasing, but this is appreciated as a sign of character that comes with use.
